Illyus has more than paid his dues in the first few years of his DJ and production career: the Glaswegian spent his early years winning several local DJ battles and playing hip hop sets before eventually gravitating towards house music. Nowadays his cuts are just as influenced by Theo Parrish and DJ Sneak as they are J Dilla and DJ Premier.The talented DJ and in demand producer has now released on labels like Tronicsole, Scucci Manucci and Stefano Riterri’s Congaloid imprint as well as remixing countrymen like Kevin McKay and more recently appearing on Morris Audio. Roska has proved such a fan of the man he has played countless Illyus jams on Rinse.FM, whilst Tensnake and Pete Tong have also come out in support of the Scot.2014 started just as excitingly for this fast rising producer with a collaboration on Glasgow Underground with Barrientos and plenty more Radio 1 plays from people like Skream and Danny Howard. Whilst the rest of the world clamours to dance to or play his tunes, then, Illyus is happy to keep on serving up the goods and looks set to do so for the rest of 2014 at an impressive rate.
